Howdy folks! Today please welcome Megan Cashman, author of The Dark Proposal. Please enjoy a free excerpt of her book below.
Describe yourself in five words? Creative, insightful, honest (though a little too much), encouraging, sensitive (though a little too much)
Who do people say you look like? I’ve been told I look like Kate Beckinsale and Neve Campbell.
How do you work through self-doubt and fears? Once I realize they are holding me back, I practically run toward what I am scared to do. Those doubts and fears are still there, but I’m more likely to just acknowledge them rather than submit to them.
Why do you write? For many reasons. I write because I can’t get the story-lines out of my head. I write because I have something to say or I like to explore an issue or question. I write because I feel like I have no choice.
Is writing a gift or a curse? LOL! Gosh, I’d say both. It does give you the chance to communicate with others, but it can feel like writing chose you rather than the other way around.
Every writer has their own idea on what a successful career in writing is, what does success in writing look like to you? I’d say being able to continually develop and improve until you can’t improve anymore, while having a following of readers always looking forward to your next work.
Do you find the time to read? Yes, usually as I commute to work in the morning.
How do you feel about social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter? Are they a good thing? They are a good way for authors to connect with other authors plus their readers. Twitter is more effective, I’d say. I spreading out into Pinterest and even Google+ to connect with people more.
What do you hope people will take away from your writing? How will your words make them feel? I hope I can make them think and feel. I hope I can write a story that will make readers see the world differently, and it can anything from the practical to the abstract. I also hope to make someone walk in another person’s shoes and see their world differently.
What is your next project? I am working on the follow-up to my book, The Dark Proposal, which is the first book in my The End of Eternity trilogy. This series brings back the evil vampires, yet tells about how they are fighting to survive in our changing world.

There was a pregnant pause with both waiting for the other to speak or make the first move. For a second, she wondered if this was going to be the moment he would make her like him or kill her instead.
“No, Claire,” he spoke suddenly. She jumped, startled. “It’s up to you to say yes. And remember I did tell you I can read your thoughts.”
